Our Story

Mercator Search Group was founded by Adam Kaeli and David Lueck as a unique investment vehicle with a sole focus to acquire, operate, and grow an existing business. Adam and David met over a decade ago in San Diego, CA while both serving as Surface Warfare Officers in the US Navy and have bonded over a shared entrepreneurial vision. As Managing Partners, they bring a unique blend of business acumen and operational experience, along with the backing of a seasoned investor base, that is tailormade to first acquire and then operate a lower middle market business.

Our name, Mercator, refers to a type of nautical chart projection developed in the 16th Century and still used as the most common method of navigation. Adam and David pay homage to their nautical roots as former naval officers by adopting the name, Mercator, but this also represents their shared desire to navigate the complex world of business using logical, proven methods and careful calculations.
